Meredith Music Festival
The second Meredith, held over two days on the 12th and 13th of December 1992 at the natural amphitheatre near Meredith, between Ballarat and Geelong. Word had spread and the crowd was three times the size of the first year, drawn by an all-Melbourne bill of rock, roll, jazz, punk, funk and ska thumped through the giant sound system in a lush natural setting. Gates opened at 2.30pm on the Saturday, with the barbecue firing up alongside the bands at 5pm and music starting at 5.30pm sharp, then playing into the wee small hours with no curfew before the bill picked up again on Sunday morning. Sixteen bands played, including Guttersnipes, the Powdermonkeys, Hoss, Ripe, The Mavis's, Warner Bros., Boxing Tostadas, the Dead Salesmen and Rob Clarkson. It was a byo, camp-the-weekend affair with minimal amenities and a free Sunday-morning barbecue breakfast, cooked by Willie. This lineup comes from the surviving poster and press materials. No playing-times schedule was published for 1992, so set times are unknown.
