Meredith Music Festival

The third Meredith, held over Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December 1993 at the Supernatural Amphitheatre near Meredith, Victoria. This was the year the crowd doubled again and the festival really pricked the consciousness of fun-lovers everywhere. Word of mouth brought people from Sydney, Adelaide, Tasmania and even from the heavens, as two brothers flew in by helicopter complete with esky and tent. A bigger stage, a bigger PA and a bill of bands ran from Saturday afternoon into the wee small hours with no curfew, taking in Spiderbait, Powder Monkeys, Hoss, Ice Cream Hands, Ripe, The Fat Thing and Guttersnipes. This was also the year the celebrated Compound was formed over the back of the stage, and the year the World Famous Meredith Gift was conceived, born from an impromptu nude race for cold beer while the crowd waited for a running-late band.
