Meredith Music Festival

The 8th annual Meredith Music Festival, held across December 12 and 13, 1998, at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre under the banner "Handmade For Humans". 1998 saw a few innovations. The introduction of MEREDOOF, Meredith's late night beats-fest, thumped till dawn and was a total winner, with Honeysmack, Frontside and Slieker slaughtering the crowd while the Wickid Force Breakers put down the cardboard and spun on their heads. This year also saw the inception of the Pink Flamingo Yacht Club Bar, a swank late-night and all day bar on the hill that glowed pink all night. Musical highlights included Meredith's first international acts, and what a way to start, with San Francisco's The Make-Up plain the best band in the world during their set. The Meanies reformed and basically headlined to a very full Amphitheatre. Something For Kate, Shihad, Custard, Bodyjar, Augie March, Even and Spencer P. Jones and The Last Gasp all played, with Sunday morning a gospel kind of thing courtesy of Kerri Simpson and Chris Wilson. Special guest MCs Merrick and Rosso held it together, and the world famous Meredith Gift ran again.
