About the festival
The Ninth Annual Meredith, held across December 11 and 12, 1999, at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. This was the year the Pink Flamingo came under new management, with Klaus and Heidi turning it into the Pink Flamingo Ski Lodge and serving cocktails with their legendary Alpine Friendliness. The festival sold out again and everyone had fun, though strange weather meant a constant mood of expectancy hovered over the weekend. International guests Cat Power and The Donnas were superb in different ways, Shihad rode the crest of popularity with a stupendous set, The Avalanches were a popular winner and SixFtHick nearly stole the whole show. Across the twenty acts the bill also took in Magic Dirt, Motor Ace, Augie March, Jimmy Little, Not From There and the world-famous Meredith Gift, before Meredoof til Dawn carried the dance floor through to sunrise. This entry was transcribed for Setline from the official Meredith Playing Times sheet.
