Meredith Music Festival

The Fourteenth Meredith, held December 10 to 12, 2004, at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. Those who survived Tropical Meredith know what went on. A Hundred Year Storm pounded the district and very nearly wiped the festival out, with cyclonic winds flattening tents and rivers carving gullies across the site. It will always be remembered for Dirty Three, playing their only Australian show that year, taking the stage at sunset on Saturday, ten years and one day after their first Meredith, as forked lightning lit up the whole district. Beyond that astonishing set, Hilltop Hoods drew one of the biggest crowds ever assembled in the Supernatural, and Spiderbait, Ground Components, Young Heart Attack, Wolfmother, M Ward, Dexter, Sage Francis, The Unicorns, Xavier Rudd, Jolie Holland and CW Stoneking all took their turn on the one stage. On the Sunday, before the Meredith Gift, a man named JK entered the Amphitheatre to a standing ovation after running 210 kilometres from Langwarrin to Meredith.
