Meredith Music Festival
The nineteenth Meredith, and by many accounts the best of the modern era. A little rain fell on the Friday, but that was the only wet weather across the three days. For the first time every ticket got you into all three full days, so the whole crowd started on page one together. A new campground named Bluegums opened, a plantation of a couple of thousand young eucalypts saved from the pulp mill. The first year Clemens Habicht made the artwork, the lineup ran deep across three full days. Akron/Family, Sia, a reformed Tumbleweed, Patrick Wolf, Yacht and Tim Sweeney lit up Friday. Saturday delivered Thee Oh Sees, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Pharoahe Monch, Heavy Trash and Royal Crown Revue by day, then an idea more than a decade in the making finally happened when Paul Kelly played the sunset spot and the Amphi became a giant church of singalongs. Animal Collective followed with a set for the purists, and then Jarvis Cocker turned in as good an hour and a half of entertainment as you could see anywhere. Sunday wound down with Kes Band, Wagons, The Middle East, The Fauves and The Dacios.
