Meredith Music Festival

The 26th annual Meredith, held December 9 to 11, 2016, at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. Daytime temps stayed below twenty all weekend, but the lack of rain finally lifted the long feared water-animal curse. The biggest thing to happen was the retirement of the old PA after 20 years of service, almost every sound made on stage in that time having come through her paper cones. Friday featured a scintillating third appearance by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Sheila E's Prince inspired and devoted set moving between two drum kits, and a spellbinding Kelela. The Triffids performed much of Born Sandy Devotional with a rotating cast of lead singers in the Dave McComb role. Saturday featured a stirring performance from Archie Roach, and belonged mostly to a wild and life-affirming Peaches set, with honourable mentions to Angel Olsen and BadBadNotGood. Ben UFO closed things out early Sunday with two and a half hours of joyous scenes, before the legendary Fred and Toody Cole, Terry and the Meredith Gift saw out the weekend.
