Meredith Music Festival
Meredith Twenty Seven, held December 8 to 10, 2017, at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. The weather was almost perfectly mild with no rain. This was the first Meredith without founder Jack Nolan, who passed away earlier in the year, and the first without The Town Bikes as hosts after fourteen years, with Gabi carrying the Meredith Gift on with the help of The Huxleys. Amyl and the Sniffers kicked the whole thing off on Friday and Suss Cunts closed it out on Sunday. Friday night ran through the seminal ESG, a wild and dangerous Total Control, Warpaint turning their intricate album tunes into full danceable jams, and Various Asses blowing out the PA. Aldous Harding stared into everyone's depths in a magic hour where artist met audience. Saturday built toward the much anticipated Todd Terje and the Olsens, taking in RVG, Big Thief as a three piece, The Senegambian Jazz Band, Downtown Boys, Pissed Jeans, an early evening Noname, Future Islands and Late Nite Tuff Guy's great discoed late set. Sunday was shared by Emma Russack's total command of the stage and Japanese Breakfast impressing mightily, with the Meredith Gift, the Silence Wedge and Master Song Tai Chi keeping the weekend's traditions alive.
