Meredith Music Festival
Meredith Thirty One, held December 8 to 10, 2023, at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. Day one was warm and windy, windy enough that the Smoking Ceremony had to be pulled owing to the risk of flying embers, though Barry and Tammy rejigged their plans and captivated everyone as usual. Things kicked off with a reprise Meninyan set before Miss Kaninna drew a huge crowd, Pigs x7 triggered one of the fiercest mosh pits in modern memory, and Alex G and Caroline Polachek warmed The Sup right up. Flowdan brought proper dubstep late into the night. Rain began falling around 4am on Saturday and did not let up until well into the evening, dropping 36ml on the site. Ponchos turned out early for Mary Lattimore, then homeground heroes Watty Thompson and Bumpy drew plenty of tears, They Hate Change dressed in solidarity with the wet crowd, and Cable Ties played a show of their lives once the rain finally eased. Kraftwerk built a set just for the stage, spaceship visuals touching down in The Sup, before Sneaky Sound System, Moktar and a sunrise set from Eris Drew and Octo Octa closed it out. Sunday brought No Fixed Address, Pachyman and a mud-soaked Meredith Gift run as a power walk under MC Zoe Coombs Marr, with the Silence Wedge and Master Song Tai Chi keeping the weekend's traditions alive.
