About Michael Mayer

Over the past four decades, Michael Mayer has built an internationally renowned career as a DJ, co-founder and driving force behind the Kompakt label, record store and distribution network, as well as a respected producer and curator with a steady output of solo and collaborative work alongside artists such as Superpitcher, Reinhard Voigt, Kölsch and Barnt. His influential mix compilations—including Neuhouse, the seminal Immer series, and contributions to the Fabric and DJ-Kicks series—reflect a clear yet open-minded aesthetic shaped by a deep, lifelong curiosity for music in all its forms. Whether digging for tracks, shaping Kompakt’s direction, or crafting DJ sets, Mayer approaches everything from the perspective of a selector, driven by a desire to uncover, contextualise and share music that moves both club floors and listeners’ minds.
