Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 August 2026

Welcome to Setline. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Setline mobile application ("App") and the website at setlineapp.com ("Website"), collectively referred to as the "Service." By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

"Setline," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Setline Pty Ltd (ACN 699 995 009), the operator of the Service. "You" and "your" refer to any individual who accesses or uses the Service. "User Content" means any text, photos, reviews, schedule information, crew posts and reactions, trip planning entries, or other material you submit, post, or share through the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration

Certain features of the Service require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account details up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.

4. Use of the Service

Setline allows you to browse festival lineups, build a personal schedule, connect with friends, join invite-only crews to talk and plan a festival trip together, share your real-time location with friends at festivals, track your steps and movement during festivals, view friend leaderboards, receive live notifications, and share your plans. You agree to use the Service only for its intended purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, or similar tools) to access or collect data from the Service without our prior written consent
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, or other harmful content
  • Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse another user, in a crew or anywhere else in the Service
  • Use the location sharing feature to track, stalk, harass, or intimidate any person
  • Attempt to access or determine another user's location without their explicit consent

5. User Content

You retain ownership of any User Content you submit through the Service. By posting User Content, you grant Setline a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence to use, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating and improving the Service. This licence continues for as long as your User Content remains on the Service and for a reasonable period after deletion to account for backups and caching.

Content standards

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You agree not to post content that:

  • Is defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening, or harassing
  • Contains hate speech or slurs, or attacks a person or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation
  • Bullies, intimidates, or targets another person, or encourages other people to do so
  • Is pornographic or sexually explicit, or sexualises a minor in any way
  • Infringes or violates any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
  • Shares someone else's personal information, such as their phone number, address, or whereabouts, without their permission
  • Contains viruses, malicious code, or any material designed to damage or interfere with the Service
  • Is misleading, deceptive, or constitutes spam, including unsolicited advertising, ticket scalping, and repeated unwanted messages
  • Promotes violence, discrimination, or illegal activity
  • Offers or solicits illegal goods, including illegal drugs and weapons
  • Violates any applicable law or regulation

We reserve the right to remove or disable access to any User Content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, without prior notice.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

Setline has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Anything in the content standards above is objectionable content. Post it, or treat another person on Setline abusively, and we may remove the content, remove you from a crew, or terminate your account, with or without notice.

We filter posts automatically before they are published and refuse ones containing slurs, and we act on what users report to us. We review every report and aim to respond within 24 hours.

Reporting and blocking

You can report any post and any crew member from within the App. Reports go to Setline staff for review, not to the crew, and we do not tell the person you reported who reported them.

You can also block another user. Blocking works both ways: once you block someone, neither of you sees the other's posts in a crew's Talk threads, in either direction, and neither of you can invite the other to a crew. Your block list is private to you, and we do not tell anyone they have been blocked.

Blocking does not remove either of you from a crew you already share, so you may still see each other listed as members and on the crew's shared plans. If you need someone out of a crew altogether, ask the crew's captain to remove them, or report them to us and we will deal with it under this section.

If you need to report something outside the App, or you want to raise a concern about how we handled a report, contact us at [email protected].

Moderation and enforcement

We may review, remove, or disable access to any User Content, and suspend or remove any user, at our sole discretion and with or without notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms or the content standards above have been breached. We do not pre-screen everything posted on the Service and we are not obliged to monitor it, but we act on what our filters catch and on what is reported to us.

Depending on what happened and what has happened before, the consequences may include:

  • Removing the content
  • Removing you from a crew, and barring you from being invited back
  • Suspending your account
  • Terminating your account permanently, under section 17
  • Referring the matter to law enforcement, where we believe someone is at risk or an offence may have been committed

We keep a record of every moderation action, including what was removed and why. These decisions are ours to make and we are not required to reinstate content we have removed or an account we have terminated. If you think we have got it wrong, contact us at [email protected].

6. Music Service Integrations

The Service may connect with your Apple Music or Tidal account to provide personalised recommendations and help you discover artists in festival lineups. By enabling either integration, you authorise Setline to access your listening data from the connected service solely for the purpose of enhancing your experience within the App. We do not store your Apple Music or Tidal credentials. Connecting a music service is optional, and you can disconnect at any time from the App settings. Your use of Apple Music and Tidal remains subject to their respective terms and conditions.

7. Location Sharing

The Service includes an optional feature that allows you to share your real-time location with friends you select on a festival map. By enabling location sharing, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Location sharing is entirely voluntary and opt-in. You must actively enable it each time and select which friends can see your location.
  • When sharing is active, your selected friends can see your approximate position on the festival map in real time.
  • You can stop sharing at any time from within the App to immediately hide your location.
  • Location sharing is only available during active festival dates and will automatically stop after the festival ends.
  • You are responsible for understanding that friends you share with can see your position. Setline is not responsible for how other users interpret or act on shared location information.
  • If you enable background location, your position will continue to update when the App is minimised. You can revoke background location permission at any time through your device settings.
  • When you opt in to location sharing, your location data may also be used in anonymous, aggregated form to generate crowd safety insights (such as density heatmaps and movement flow patterns) that are shared with the festival organiser to improve crowd management and site safety. This data is stripped of all personal identifiers and cannot be used to identify you. See our Privacy Policy (section 2A) for full details.
  • The core features of the Service — including festival schedules, lineups, and friend connections — are fully functional without location permission.

Misuse of the location sharing feature, including using it to track, stalk, or harass another person, is a serious violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination and reporting to relevant authorities.

8. Festival Steps and Leaderboards

The Service includes an optional feature ("Festival Steps") that tracks your step count and distance walked during festivals using your device's built-in motion sensors — Apple CoreMotion on iOS and the hardware step counter sensor on Android. By enabling Festival Steps, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Festival Steps is entirely voluntary and opt-in. You must actively enable it and grant motion/activity permissions before any data is collected.
  • The feature reads step count and distance data directly from your device's built-in motion coprocessor. Setline does not access heart rate, sleep, nutrition, or any other health categories, and does not use Apple HealthKit, Google Health Connect, or any third-party health platform.
  • Step tracking is only active during festival dates in your schedule and automatically stops after the festival ends.
  • Aggregated daily step and distance totals are synced to Setline's servers to power per-set step breakdowns and the Friends and Festival leaderboards.
  • Aggregated step and distance data is retained for as long as your Setline account is active so you can revisit past festivals and, over time, compare your activity year-on-year. You can permanently delete every saved festival recap at any time using the Delete Movement History action in Privacy settings, and all movement data is removed immediately when you delete your account. Festival leaderboard entries are deleted within 7 days after the festival ends.
  • You can disable Festival Steps at any time from the App settings to immediately stop data collection.
  • You can also revoke motion/activity permissions through your device's system settings (Motion & Fitness on iOS, Physical Activity on Android) at any time.
  • The core features of the Service — including festival schedules, lineups, and friend connections — are fully functional without motion data permissions.

Friends Leaderboard

If you opt in to the Friends Leaderboard, your step totals are visible to your friends attending the same festival, alongside your full display name and profile photo. The Friends Leaderboard is opt-in and can be toggled on or off at any time from the App settings.

Festival Leaderboard

If you opt in to the Festival Leaderboard, your step totals are visible to all other attendees of the festival who have also opted in. To protect your privacy from strangers, you appear under a masked name — your username if you have set one, otherwise your first name and last initial. Your full display name and profile photo are not shown on the festival leaderboard. The Festival Leaderboard is independently opt-in and can be toggled separately from the Friends Leaderboard.

To keep the Festival Leaderboard fair, your approximate device location is sent with each step sync to verify you are physically at the festival, and we apply automated checks to detect implausible step counts. Entries that fail these checks may be excluded, capped, or removed at our sole discretion. By opting in, you agree to these checks and acknowledge that:

  • The Festival Leaderboard is provided for entertainment and social purposes only. It is not a competition, contest, or promotion, and no prizes, awards, or other consideration are offered based on rankings.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of step counts, distance estimates, rankings, or any other leaderboard data. Results depend on your device's hardware, sensor calibration, and the proportion of attendees who have opted in, all of which are outside our control.
  • Rankings may change at any time as new entries are added, validated, or removed. Your position is not final or guaranteed.
  • We may add, modify, suspend, or remove the leaderboard or any entry at any time without notice.
  • You will not attempt to manipulate the leaderboard through spoofed location data, modified step counts, or any other means. Doing so may result in removal of your entries and termination of your account.

Setline does not use your health, motion, or location data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the Festival Steps feature and related leaderboard functionality. This data is never sold to third parties.

8A. Festival Crews

The Service includes an optional feature ("Crews") that lets you form an invite-only group with friends for a particular festival, talk in topic threads, and plan the trip together. A crew is private to its members. By creating or joining a crew, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Crews are invite-only and built from your existing friends. Only someone you are already friends with on Setline can invite you, any member of a crew can invite their own friends to it, and you choose whether to accept.
  • Everything you put in a crew, including your posts, reactions, trip planning entries, and your personal pack list, is visible to every member of that crew. Treat a crew as a group conversation, not as private storage.
  • Before you join, the App shows you exactly what joining will share with the crew: your name and photo, your picks and schedule for that festival, your travel and stay plans and the items you claim, and what you post in the crew. It also tells you what the crew will not see, which is your other festivals and your location. Nothing is shared until you agree to join. Our Privacy Policy (section 2E) sets this out in full.
  • Crews do not share your location. The location sharing feature described in section 7 is separate and opt-in, and joining a crew does not turn it on.
  • Crew content is never shared with festival organisers. Organisers cannot see your crew, its members, or anything posted in it.
  • The content standards, reporting, blocking, and moderation provisions in section 5 apply in full inside crews. A crew being private does not make it a place where those rules do not apply.
  • Crews are subject to the same eligibility requirements as the rest of the Service, set out in section 2.

Crew captains

Each crew has a single captain, normally the person who created it. A captain can remove any member from the crew, delete any member's post, rename the crew, change its emoji and trip type, remove items from the shared bring list, delete a discussion thread, cancel a pending invite, and delete the whole crew. Captaincy is not something members hand around: if the captain leaves, it passes automatically to the member who joined earliest.

Captains are ordinary users, not Setline staff, and a captain's decision is their own. Setline's moderation powers under section 5 are separate and are not limited by what a captain does or does not do.

Planning together

Bring lists, pack lists, and travel plans made in a crew, including lifts, carpools, and buses, are arrangements between you and the other members. Setline gives you the tools to coordinate them. We are not a party to them, we do not check them, and we are not responsible for whether anyone turns up, pays their share, brings what they said they would bring, or drives safely. Setline is not a transport provider and does not arrange, operate, insure, or vet any vehicle, driver, or bus. See section 14.

Leaving a crew and deleting your account

You can leave a crew at any time from within the App. If you delete your Setline account, we remove your crew posts, your member entry and everything on it (your picks and schedule copy, travel and stay plans, and personal pack list), your crew memberships, and your pending invites. Items you had claimed on a shared bring list are released back to the crew rather than deleted, so the crew does not lose the list itself. If you were the last member of a crew, the crew and its contents are deleted with you.

Reports and moderation records are the exception and are retained. See our Privacy Policy (section 2E) for exactly what is kept and why.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service and all of its content, features, and functionality — including but not limited to the Setline name, logo, design, text, graphics, and software — are owned by Setline or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Festival names, artist names, and related imagery are the property of their respective owners and are used within the Service for informational purposes.

Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use the Setline name, logo, or trademarks without our prior written consent.

10. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service may display festival information, artist details, and other content sourced from third parties. We strive to keep this information accurate but do not guarantee its completeness or reliability. Festival schedules, lineups, and set times are subject to change by the festival organisers and Setline is not responsible for any inaccuracies or last-minute changes.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services.

10A. Ticket Links and Affiliate Commissions

When you tap a ticket link in the Service, such as "Get Tickets", we may send you to a third-party ticketing provider through a tracking link. Setline takes part in affiliate programs run by some ticketing providers, which means we may earn a commission when you buy a ticket after following one of these links. This is at no extra cost to you. It never changes the price you pay, and it never changes which tickets or providers you see. We only link to the ticketing provider the festival organiser has chosen or that we have identified as selling tickets for that event. Any purchase you make happens on the ticketing provider's own website and is subject to their terms and privacy policy.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Notifications and Communications

By using the Service, you agree to receive push notifications related to your festival schedule, including set reminders, live updates, and friend activity alerts. You can manage your notification preferences in the App settings or through your device's notification settings at any time.

If you provide your email address (for example, to join our Android waitlist), we may send you occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time using the link provided in each message.

If you choose to add a phone number to your account, you consent to receive a one-time SMS verification code at that number. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. We may also send important account or security alerts by SMS where required. You can remove your phone number at any time from Edit Profile in the App, which prevents any further SMS communication. See our Privacy Policy for how phone numbers are stored and used.

If you choose to use the "Find friends from contacts" feature, you confirm that you have permission to share the contact information of people in your address book with us for the limited purpose of matching against existing Setline users. We process this data in memory only and never store, share, or otherwise use it. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

13. Availability and Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Setline is a planning and social tool. We are not a ticket seller, event organiser, or travel provider. We do not guarantee entry to any festival or event, and we are not responsible for the conduct, safety, or experience at any festival or venue.

User Content is created by users, not by Setline. We do not endorse it and we do not verify it. Although we moderate under section 5, we cannot guarantee that you will never encounter content you find objectionable, and we are not responsible for the conduct of other users, in a crew or anywhere else in the Service. Arrangements made through a crew, including camping, travel, and carpool plans, are between the users who make them and are entered into at your own risk.

The Festival Steps feature is provided for entertainment and informational purposes only. It is not a medical device and should not be relied upon for health monitoring, fitness advice, or any medical purpose. Step counts and distance estimates are approximate and may vary depending on your device's hardware and sensor accuracy. Setline makes no warranties regarding the accuracy of movement data.

The Friends Leaderboard and Festival Leaderboard are provided for entertainment and social purposes only. They are not competitions, contests, sweepstakes, or promotions, and no prizes, awards, recognition, or other consideration are offered based on rankings or results. We make no warranties or representations as to the accuracy, completeness, fairness, or reliability of any rankings, step counts, distance estimates, or other data shown on the leaderboards. Rankings depend on factors outside our control — including device hardware, sensor calibration, location accuracy, and which other users have opted in — and may change at any time. Entries may be excluded, capped, removed, or recalculated by automated anti-cheat systems without notice. You should not rely on leaderboard data for any purpose other than your own enjoyment.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Setline and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim or fifty Australian dollars (AUD $50).

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Setline and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your User Content, or your breach of these Terms.

17. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the App settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if required by law. Breaching the content standards in section 5, or behaving abusively towards another user, is a ground for termination under this section.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.

18. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Australia, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.

19. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Setline regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.

20. Contact Us
