Modern English are a British post-punk and new wave band formed in Colchester, Essex in 1979. Best known for their 1982 hit "I Melt With You," their sound blends jangly guitars, synth textures, and emotive vocals. They were part of the 4AD label's early roster alongside other atmospheric post-punk acts.
