The Monks were an American garage rock band formed in the 1960s by U.S. soldiers stationed in Germany, known for their abrasive, confrontational sound blending proto-punk, noise, and experimental rock. Their minimalist, aggressive style and anti-Vietnam War themes made them pioneers of avant-garde punk.
