About Cinnamon Sun
Northern Rivers-based Reggae / Roots / Soul band Cinnamon Sun oozes a comforting, conscious vibe, blending tasty grooves with sun-soaked textures that transport listeners to a Tahitian bar under an orange setting sun, where worries melt away. Fronted by the grounded and ever-chilled Davy Simony, Cinnamon Sun is the evolution of his global solo roots journey, now enriched by a dynamic collective of musicians. The project has sparked a fire that continues to burn. Collectively, they’ve toured across Australia, the USA, Europe, Japan and Thailand; performed at iconic festivals including Bluesfest, Earth Frequency, Kuranda Roots and St Kilda Festival; and supported heavyweights such as Tash Sultana, Katchafire and Winston Surfshirt. Sonically, Cinnamon Sun sits comfortably alongside artists like Tom Misch and Fat Freddy’s Drop - think dreamy guitar riffs, vintage keys, deep pocket grooves, and sax lines that float like incense smoke. Davy’s warm, honey-soaked vocals glide between smooth melodies and laid-back flows, echoing the spirit of Mac Miller with an earthy Aussie twist. With multiple Triple J premieres, over 1 million Spotify streams, and support from Beat Magazine, Forte, StereoFox, AU Review and more, Cinnamon Sun continues to rise with a clear mission: to uplift, connect, and get you groovin’. “Nkechi Anele (Triple J): Like drifting off into your own imagination, Cinnamon Sun is the kick-off into a blissful existence. Understatedly poetic and great, you can’t go wrong with these cats.” “AU Review: There is plenty of love in Australia for the chilled-out vibe… I can see some of that love being replicated onto the charms of Cinnamon Sun.”
