Sludge Metal Doom Metal Southern Metal Heavy Metal Southern Rock

Down is a heavy metal supergroup formed in New Orleans in 1991, featuring Phil Anselmo (Pantera) and members of Corrosion of Conformity and Crowbar. Their sound blends sludge metal, doom metal, and Southern rock with crushing, slow-burning riffs and bluesy undertones. Their debut album NOLA (1995) is widely considered a landmark of the genre.
