Since the 1980s, Gilles Peterson has been a pivotal figure in club culture, renowned for his genre-defying approach to music with jazz at its core. As one of the UK’s most iconic DJs, he has spent more than 40 years shaping musical trends as a radio presenter, club DJ, producer and festival curator, influencing artists and audiences around the world. He currently hosts a flagship weekend programme on BBC Radio 6 Music and founded Worldwide FM in 2016, extending his commitment to discovering and sharing boundary-pushing sounds. Peterson is also the founder of the Worldwide Festival in the South of France and We Out Here in the UK, while his label, Brownswood Recordings, continues to champion emerging talent on a global stage. His first book, Lockdown FM: Broadcasting in a Pandemic, further cemented his status as one of contemporary music’s most respected and multifaceted cultural tastemakers.
