The Beat (known as The English Beat in North America) were a British ska/new wave band formed in Birmingham in 1978. They blended ska, reggae, pop, and punk influences, producing danceable, politically charged music. Key hits include "Mirror in the Bathroom" and "Hands Off... She's Mine."
