Anthrax is an American heavy metal band formed in New York City in 1981, widely regarded as one of the "Big Four" of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. Known for blending aggressive thrash riffs with punk energy and a sardonic sense of humor, they helped pioneer the genre with albums like "Among the Living" and "Persistence of Time."
