Mayhem is a pioneering Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1984. Known for their raw, abrasive sound, shrieking vocals, and lo-fi production, they were central figures in the early Norwegian black metal scene. Their 1994 album *De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas* is considered a landmark of the genre.
